About CarryOnSizes

Meet CarryOnSizes: airline baggage guides, packing rules and researched luggage comparisons, with official sources and clear limits.

CarryOnSizes helps you answer the questions that come between booking a flight and boarding it. How big can your bag be? Does your fare include an overhead suitcase? Can that charger, packed lunch or bottle travel with you?

Our focus is practical travel preparation. We turn airline policies, airport instructions and product specifications into guides you can use while packing. We also explain where the answer depends on your ticket, operating airline or destination.

What you will find here

Our airline guides explain cabin dimensions, weight limits, personal items and checked baggage conditions. They distinguish an airline’s general allowance from the allowance attached to a particular fare. Exceptions and effective dates belong alongside the headline numbers.

The Can I Bring section tackles the things inside your bag. Security screening, airline carriage and border entry are separate decisions. A food that passes TSA screening can still be restricted at your destination.

Our luggage guides compare bags against real packing needs. We look at external measurements, empty weight, organization and the compromises between them. A manufacturer’s carry-on label does not establish acceptance on every airline.

We also cover airport procedures and travel changes that affect trip planning. New routes, visitor programs and status benefits need dates and conditions, rather than a headline that stays current forever.

Our starting point is the actual rule

For an airline allowance, the operating airline is the primary source. For US screening, that is TSA; hazardous materials may also need FAA guidance. Airports, border agencies and manufacturers answer different parts of the journey.

We link to official sources near the claims they support. When two official pages disagree, a guide should explain the uncertainty and the practical check it creates. We avoid turning a community anecdote into a promised exemption.

Traveler discussions are useful for finding the questions a policy page leaves readers asking. They help identify awkward connections, confusing measurements and products with similar names. They do not replace the authority that decides what can travel.

What our guides can establish

A checked date tells you when the information was reviewed. It is not a guarantee that the airline or agency has kept its rules unchanged since then. The original publication date and a later update date describe different events.

Before paying for a bag or leaving for the airport, check the allowance in your booking and the linked official policy. Include every operating carrier on a connection. A generous allowance on one flight does not remove a tighter limit on another.

Our examples explain how a rule works. A hypothetical weight calculation is not a measurement of your packed bag. Likewise, an illustration is not evidence that a particular product fits a particular airline’s sizer.

Research, illustrations and commercial links

CarryOnSizes uses AI assistance in its research and writing workflow. Drafts receive a separate editorial review against source material before publication. AI generated images are labeled as editorial illustrations; they do not document a test or a trip.

We distinguish researched product recommendations from hands-on testing. A specification comparison should not imply that we carried a suitcase through an airport. Our editorial process explains the checks behind our guides.

Some shopping links can earn us a commission. Our affiliate disclosure explains that relationship and what to check before buying. A link’s commercial status does not make a bag compliant with an airline’s rules.

Help us correct the details

If you find a changed allowance, broken source or misleading passage, send us the page URL and the relevant official information. Include the date, route and fare when they affect the answer. Please leave booking references and other private travel details out of your message.
