Cabin baggage is a gap on this route
Air Tanzania’s baggage page and its policy hub list a carry-on link. Neither one states cabin bag dimensions, cabin weight limits or a personal item allowance anywhere on the site.
That is unusual among African flag carriers. A traveler cannot confirm an Air Tanzania cabin size the way they can with Ethiopian Airlines or Kenya Airways, both of which publish cabin limits in centimeters and kilograms.
Until Air Tanzania posts a real number, pack toward a conservative small cabin bag and confirm at check-in. Run your bag through the size checker against a common regional cabin limit, so you are not the passenger arguing at the gate.
Excess weight fees
Overweight and extra bag charges vary by route rather than sitting at one flat rate. Africa to Asia excess weight runs 15 USD per kg. Africa to Africa excess weight runs 8 USD per kg.
Domestic Tanzania excess weight is billed at 8,000 TZS per kg. Special items such as fish buckets carry their own charge, listed at 23,000 to 30,000 TZS.

Restricted and special items
Air Tanzania will not accept gold, jewelry, laptops or cash as checked baggage. Those stay in the cabin bag instead.
Perishables, firearms and ammunition, and alcoholic beverages face strict handling limits. Sporting equipment such as bicycles, diving gear or golf clubs needs advance reservation plus a separate handling fee.

Those light aircraft impose separate, strict weight caps that have nothing to do with Air Tanzania’s mainline jets. Do not assume a bush flight’s baggage limit applies to an Air Tanzania mainline booking, and do not assume the reverse either.
