The reversal makes Blue Basic considerably more competitive against Delta and American on a carry-on only trip.
What JetBlue baggage rules allow in the cabin
The carry-on limit is 22 x 14 x 9 inches, or 56 x 36 x 23 cm. The personal item is 17 x 13 x 8 inches.
JetBlue publishes no cabin weight limit. The practical test is whether you can lift the bag into the overhead bin unaided.
That phrasing is doing real work. Gate staff apply it, and a bag you cannot lift yourself can be refused regardless of size.
JetBlue baggage rules use a peak calendar
JetBlue prices checked bags on a seasonal calendar, which most US carriers do not.

Where fare class and status still change things
Cabin allowances are the same on every fare. Checked bag terms are not.
Fees and allowances shift with fare class, route, and Mosaic status. Mint, the premium cabin, carries its own allowance.
So the cabin bag question is now simple on JetBlue, and the checked bag question is not. Price the bags for your specific booking rather than the airline in general.
