If a cabin bag will not fit or is judged too heavy at the gate, Cathay’s usual remedy is to send it to the hold. A checked bag charge can still apply if you have already used your included checked allowance.

The fares only differ once you look at the hold. Light includes one checked bag at 23 kg. Essential and Flex step up to two.

Premium Economy, Business and First are not itemized on the public fare chart at all. They route straight to the same tool. Anyone flying a premium cabin should pull up the baggage calculator and check the figure tied to their own booking.
