What the overweight and oversize fees mean at the counter

Avelo publishes the $100 overweight fee and the $100 oversize fee as flat add-ons. They do not scale with each extra pound. A bag at 51 lb costs the same extra $100 as a bag at 69 lb.

That flat structure means there is no benefit to shaving a pound or two off an already overweight bag. Either get it under 50 lb before you leave, or accept the fee and stop worrying about the exact number.

The same logic applies to the 62 linear inch line. A bag at 63 inches and a bag at 79 inches both pay the same $100 oversize charge. The fee only changes once a bag crosses the 80 inch hard limit and can no longer check in at all.
