The FlyOne baggage allowance is smaller than most travelers expect. One free cabin bag comes with every fare, even the cheapest one. The limit is 40 by 30 by 20 centimeters and 8 kilograms.
Anything bigger does not get turned away at check-in. It gets caught at the gate instead. The fee runs from about 105 EUR to 316 EUR, depending on how far oversize the bag is.
In inches that free bag works out to roughly 15.7 by 11.8 by 7.9. Eight kilograms is about 17.6 pounds.
What the free cabin bag actually covers
FlyOne’s own baggage page lists one piece of hand baggage per passenger. A short list of small extras does not count against that limit. A coat, an umbrella or cane, and a camera or binoculars can all ride along free.
The site does not describe a separate, larger paid cabin bag option. So 40 by 30 by 20 appears to be the ceiling for the cabin altogether, not just the free tier. That matters for how you pack, not just what you pack.
A bag that fits the outer box can still fail the check. If it weighs more than 8 kilograms, it counts as oversize under FlyOne’s rule. Size and weight both have to clear the line.
Checked bags depend entirely on the fare
Whether a checked bag is free under the FlyOne baggage allowance comes down to the fare you booked. It has nothing to do with how much you pack. Light and Standard fares include no checked baggage at all.
Loyal includes one bag up to 25 kilograms. Advantage includes two bags, up to 30 kilograms each. Buying a checked bag on Light or Standard means paying FlyOne’s excess baggage rates instead.
Those rates are ranges, not flat fees. A small bag up to 20 kilograms runs about 35 to 120 EUR booked ahead. At the airport that same bag runs 70 to 240 EUR.
A heavier bag up to 30 kilograms runs about 50 to 180 EUR ahead of time. At the counter, expect roughly double that. Booking the bag early is consistently the cheaper move.
Going over the weight you already booked is billed as a separate charge. FlyOne’s table shows about 45 to 136 EUR for up to 10 kilograms over. It shows about 80 to 240 EUR for up to 20 kilograms over.
FlyOne states plainly that these fees are not refundable. Guessing at the airport is always the expensive option. Weighing the bag at home costs nothing.
One brand, more than one airline
FlyOne is registered in Moldova and flies from Chisinau and Bucharest. A related but separately certificated carrier, FlyOne Armenia, flies the same brand out of Yerevan under its own code. The two are not the same legal airline.
FlyOne’s own site states that the baggage numbers above apply across its Moldova, Romania, Armenia and Asia operations alike. A Yerevan booking is almost certainly FlyOne Armenia. It just wears the same rules and the same name.
What travelers actually report
Community chatter on FlyOne specifically is thin next to a household name carrier. This article sticks to what FlyOne itself publishes rather than repeating unconfirmed anecdotes.
What is verifiable is the mechanism FlyOne itself describes. Bag size gets checked at the gate, not at check-in. The fee for guessing wrong is steep enough that measuring at home is worth the two minutes it takes.
How FlyOne compares

Bigger European budget names run a similar script. Wizz Air and Ryanair both offer a small free bag, a bigger paid one, and a gate fee if you guess wrong.
