Nok Air still builds a free checked bag into its two main fares. That is rare among budget carriers in Thailand. The Nok Air baggage allowance depends on which fare you buy.

What each Nok Air fare actually includes
Nok Air sells three fare types: Nok Lite, Nok X-Tra and Nok MAX. Only Nok Lite skips checked baggage entirely, according to Nok Air’s baggage page. The other two fold a real checked allowance into the ticket price.

Nok Air also runs a status product called Nok Smile Plus, adding 10 kilograms to every row above. The fee behind Nok X-Tra and Nok MAX sits inside the fare already. Nothing extra shows up at the counter.
The Nok Lite catch that catches travelers off guard
Nok Lite looks cheap until you need to check a bag. One Nok Air passenger found that out flying Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok.
He wrote in a review that he was charged 1,200 baht for two 15 kilogram bags he assumed were included. He called it outright deception.
Nok Air’s own terms explain why. A flat fee covers the first 20 kilograms at airport counters on fares without an allowance. It runs 1,200 baht domestically and 2,500 baht internationally.
That fee rises to 1,500 and 2,800 baht on weekends and holidays. Buying baggage online ahead of time avoids the markup.
Carry-on and personal item limits
The cabin side of the Nok Air baggage allowance is simpler. Each passenger gets one carry-on bag up to 36 by 56 by 23 centimeters. That works out to roughly 14 by 22 by 9 inches.
Add one small personal item, such as a handbag or laptop bag. The two together are capped at 7 kilograms combined, not 7 kilograms each.
Power banks get their own rule worth knowing before you pack. Nok Air permits up to 2 per passenger, cabin only. Each must be rated no higher than 100 watt hours or 20,000 mAh, with a clear capacity label.
Power banks cannot go in the overhead bin. They must stay within reach at all times. They cannot charge other devices in flight.
When a normal bag turns into a special bag
Weight is not the only trigger for extra fees. A checked item over 40 centimeters long, 75 centimeters wide or 50 centimeters thick gets reclassified as special baggage. So do bicycles, golf bags, musical instruments, televisions and computers.
Special baggage fees run from 800 to 1,800 baht depending on weight. That charge sits on top of your normal checked allowance, not instead of it.
Buying extra baggage ahead beats paying at the gate
Nok Air sells extra kilograms in advance under a program called Nok Baggage. Planning ahead pays off. An extra 10 kilograms on a domestic flight runs 450 baht if bought with the ticket.
Pay at the counter instead and the price jumps. Domestic excess baggage costs 400 baht per kilogram. International excess runs 500 baht per kilogram.
Total checked weight tops out at 60 kilograms per passenger on domestic routes and 40 kilograms on international routes. Plan your purchase before departure day.
How the Nok Air baggage allowance compares to other carriers
Thai Airways builds a checked allowance into every fare it sells, the usual approach for a full service carrier. Nok Air only does that for two of its three tiers. Rival budget carriers such as AirAsia generally follow the same pattern of excluding baggage from their cheapest fare.
