Book the cheapest Oman Air fare and your checked baggage allowance is zero kilograms. Not a small bag. Nothing at all.

The gap between the cheapest and priciest fares is 60 kilograms. That is wider than most carriers offer at any level. Cabin baggage is simpler: one bag in economy, two in business, seven kilograms each.

The airline publishes six named fare tiers across two cabins. Each one carries its own checked weight. Business Studio, the top fare, allows 60 kilograms.

Economy Super Saver is the fare most search engines show first. It also carries nothing. Anyone booking on price alone can end up paying for a bag twice, once at booking and once at the airport.

Cabin baggage: one bag in economy, two in business
Every fare allows the same hand baggage. Economy gets one piece up to seven kilograms. Business gets two pieces at seven kilograms each.
Oman Air caps the combined length, width and height at 115 centimeters, or 45 inches. There is no separate personal item listed anywhere on the page. Your one cabin bag in economy has to hold everything.
Travelers used to a free personal item on US carriers should pack accordingly. These limits sit close to the standard carry-on rules most international airlines follow.
Where the allowance gets bigger: routes and loyalty status
Oman Air lists a second, higher set of economy weights for what it calls specific routes. It does not name which routes on the main page. Super Saver becomes 20 kilograms, Comfort 30, Flex 40, each ten kilograms above the base figure.
That bump to the Oman Air baggage allowance goes unnoticed by many economy passengers. Sindbad, the airline’s frequent flyer program, adds more on top. Gold members get 15 extra kilograms, Silver members get 10, on every fare except Economy Super Saver.
Infants get an extra 10 kilograms of checked baggage on every fare except Economy Super Saver too. None of these bonuses show up on the ticket price.
Size and weight limits that apply no matter the fare
No single checked bag can weigh more than 32 kilograms, on any fare. Oman Air says a heavier bag will not be accepted at all, not even for a fee. Every checked bag is also capped at 158 centimeters in total dimensions, roughly 62 inches.
That total matches the figure most carriers use, covered on our checked baggage page. Anything past these limits becomes an oversize or overweight case. Oman Air’s site points travelers to its extra baggage terms rather than a flat published fee.
The mileage award booking trap
Community threads point to one specific way US travelers get caught out. Award tickets booked through partner mileage programs, including Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards, have landed travelers in the Economy Super Saver bucket. That is the same bucket with zero checked baggage on Oman Air’s own chart.
Forum posts describe arriving at the airport expecting a normal economy allowance. Instead they faced a first bag charge at the counter. That outcome matches exactly what the Oman Air baggage allowance is for that fare: zero kilograms, award ticket or paid ticket alike.
Flyers redeeming Alaska Airlines miles deserve a specific warning here. The fare bucket a mileage program books into is not always the one a traveler expects.
Oman Air and oneworld: what actually changes for baggage
Oman Air has joined the oneworld alliance. That links its network to partners such as British Airways and Qatar Airways for booking, seating and mileage. Alliance membership does not rewrite a carrier’s own checked baggage rules by itself.
It mainly changes how a mixed itinerary gets ticketed and how bags transfer at a connection. Oman Air’s own oneworld page did not load during research for this article. The exact through checked terms for mixed itineraries are not confirmed here.
Travelers connecting onto a oneworld partner, or a regional peer like Etihad Airways on a codeshare, should confirm the allowance for the whole itinerary. Do not assume the Oman Air segment sets the rule for the entire trip.
