PIA domestic baggage allowance: what you actually get
PIA’s own baggage guide sets the cabin limit at one piece, 7 kg. It must fit inside 38 by 22 by 55 centimeters, 115 centimeters total. Executive Economy gets the identical allowance.
PIA does not publish a bigger cabin limit for a higher domestic cabin. Checked baggage works differently. PIA does not print one flat weight for every ticket.
Instead the airline runs a piece or a weight system, depending on the fare on your ticket. Either way, the bag cannot exceed 158 centimeters in total dimensions.

That 115 centimeter cabin figure sits well inside general carry-on size limits used across most airlines. A bag that clears PIA clears almost anywhere else too.
What excess baggage costs on PIA domestic flights
That flat, two tier rate is part of what makes the PIA domestic baggage allowance easy to plan around. Go over your allowance at the counter and PIA charges 250 PKR per kilogram. Buy the extra weight online ahead of time and the rate drops to 200 PKR per kilogram.
It sells in minimum 5 kilogram blocks, booked before 4 hours prior to departure. You can do that through PIA’s site, an office, or a travel agent. Run the math first with the baggage cost calculator.
Let the surprise show up on screen, not at the counter. A laptop, one wheelchair, and 5 liters of Zam Zam water travel free on top of the normal allowance.
International PIA baggage allowance and connecting flights
Compared with the PIA domestic baggage allowance, international pricing is a maze. The cabin rule stays fixed at one piece, 7 kg, same dimensions as domestic. Checked baggage is again set by the fare on your ticket.
PIA’s own site flags one trap directly. Once your onward leg moves to a different carrier, such as Emirates or Qatar Airways, that airline’s own allowance takes over. That is commonly two checked pieces of 23 kilograms each.
Assume that figure on a sector PIA still operates and the math breaks. You can pay excess for weight the connecting carrier would have flown free. Rates abroad swing far more than at home.
Airport charges run from about 5 dollars a kilogram out of the Gulf up to 25 dollars a kilogram to Istanbul. Toronto is priced per piece instead of per kilogram. Paying ahead of time cuts most of those rates by roughly 40 to 50 percent.
Batteries, electronics, and oversized items
Spare lithium batteries, power banks, and other portable electronic devices are cabin only on PIA, never in a checked bag. The limit is 100 watt hours without special approval. PIA caps each passenger at 20 spare batteries and 15 personal devices.
Check the site’s electronics packing rules for how that compares with TSA limits. A checked television gets its own fee table instead of a normal weight check.
A 65 inch set is billed as 12 extra kilograms. A 55 inch set is billed as 8, and a 42 inch set as 4. The box’s actual weight does not matter here.
Oversized boxes between 162 and 225 centimeters total get a flat 4 kilogram excess charge. Round bags, loose straps, and blanket wrapped luggage get refused at the counter outright.
Where PIA actually flies right now
PIA’s network has moved fast over the past two years. A route claim from even a year ago can already be wrong. The European Union took PIA off its air safety list in mid 2025.
The airline restarted flights to Paris soon after, and Manchester in the United Kingdom followed later in the year. Flights to Canada came back too, with Lahore to Toronto service starting in October 2025.
Direct service to the United States has not resumed as of this writing. Pakistani officials have said talks with US regulators are ongoing. There is no confirmed restart date yet.
If a trip needs to touch the United States, plan on a connection. A carrier like Turkish Airlines can bridge that gap. Check PIA’s own site for current routes first.
What travelers say about PIA baggage rules
PIA’s own booking site carries a pointed warning buried in its traveler information. The two bags of 23 kilograms each that many flyers expect only applies once a ticket moves to another airline. It does not apply on PIA’s own sectors.
Forum threads on History of PIA return to the same panic again and again. One thread title alone is a plea for help on luggage weight the night before a flight. Automated reading of those threads was blocked, so this rests on thread titles and PIA’s own warning, not full posts.
The pattern still lines up. Travelers carry an interline number in their head. Then they board a PIA flight and get charged for weight they assumed was included.
