Fly Air Premia to the United States and Economy often gets a free bag the same ticket would not get elsewhere. Economy Standard and Flex fares carry two free checked bags to Los Angeles or Newark. They carry only one to the rest of the network.
That gap sits at the center of the Air Premia baggage allowance.
Air Premia is a South Korean hybrid long haul carrier. It is not a pure budget airline, and it is not a full service one either. It flies Boeing 787 Dreamliners between Seoul and US cities including Los Angeles and Newark.
Carry-on: one size, two different piece counts
Air Premia sets a single carry-on size for every cabin and every route. The three dimensions must total no more than 115 cm, or 45.2 inches. Each side is capped at 55 by 40 by 20 cm.
Weight tops out at 10 kg, about 22 lb, in both Economy and Wide Premium. The piece count is where the cabins differ. Economy allows one carry-on bag, and Wide Premium allows two.
Wide Premium is the carrier’s roomier cabin, with extra seat pitch built in. Both cabins also get one personal item, sized to a combined 100 cm, or 39.3 inches. That item’s weight is not extra, since it is folded into the same 10 kg carry-on limit.

Checked baggage: the US route carries more
Checked bags follow one size rule, a 158 cm, or 62.2 inch, total across three sides. Free piece counts and weight limits change by fare and by destination. On flights to the United States, Wide Premium checks two bags at up to 32 kg, or 71 lb, each.
Economy Standard and Flex also get two bags on US routes. Each is capped at 23 kg, or 51 lb. Economy Lite gets one bag at that same 23 kg.
Fly any of those fares outside the Americas and the free piece count drops by one. Economy Lite’s weight limit falls further, to 15 kg, or 33 lb, on those routes. This is the clearest place the Air Premia baggage allowance rewards a US ticket over any other one.

No single piece may exceed 32 kg in any cabin. Heavier bags can be refused at check-in.
What an extra or overweight bag costs
Buying extra baggage online at least 48 hours ahead costs less than buying it at the airport. From a US departure, an extra piece runs USD 70 at check-in. It runs USD 60 if bought in advance.
An overweight bag costs USD 10 per kg past the free limit at the airport. Prepaid, it is a flat USD 25 or USD 50, depending on how far over it runs. Economy Lite and Wide Premium fares cannot prepay an overweight bag online, only an extra piece.
Oversized bags, those totaling 159 to 292 cm, add USD 80 to USD 160. That charge stacks on top of any weight fee. One US specific protection exists too.
If a bag already carrying a paid excess charge arrives 15 hours late on a short flight, the fee gets refunded. The same applies at 30 hours late on a longer flight. That rule comes from federal baggage regulations, not from Air Premia itself.
When the carry-on rule gets tighter
Air Premia does not always hold its carry-on allowance steady on every route. The carrier posted a notice trimming Wide Premium’s carry-on from two bags to one. That applied to flight YP132, Newark to Seoul, through the 2025 holiday season.
It named TSA screening volume at the gate as the reason. It offered an extra free checked bag in exchange.
Independent trip reports on this carrier are thin, since it is a young airline. One review site that used to track it closed its whole archive in 2026. The carrier’s own notice record is the clearer signal here: enforcement on a specific US flight can tighten for weeks without any change to the posted policy page.
Packing around the numbers
Weigh bags at home before a Los Angeles or Newark departure. Air Premia’s counters and gates enforce the posted kilogram limits. They do not wave close calls through.
