Skywards elite status is Emirates’ version of a fee waiver

Emirates does not run a US branded credit card that waives checked bag fees the way some domestic airlines’ cards do. The benefit instead sits inside the Skywards loyalty tiers.

Skywards Platinum and Gold members get one extra piece over their fare’s normal allowance. That extra piece flies free at 23 kg in Economy or 32 kg in Business and First.

The waiver has to come from status earned on the program. It is not something a credit card can buy on Emirates today.

How Emirates compares to its nearest rivals
