Every Fiji Airways carry-on has a hard weight cap of 7 kg, or 15 lbs, even in Business class. Most US carriers never weigh your rollaboard at the gate. Fiji Airways does, and Fiji Airways baggage allowance rules apply that cap on every fare and every cabin.

Infants under two get an extra 3 kg (7 lbs), carried by the adult. A separate personal item rides along too. A laptop bag or purse under 4 kg qualifies.

Checked baggage: LITE gets nothing, everything else gets a piece count
Fiji Airways moved to a piece system for checked bags in December 2022. The fare name now tells you exactly what you get. LITE fares carry no checked bag at all.
VALUE adds one piece up to 30 kg (66 lbs). COMFORT, PLUS, BIZ VALUE, and BIZ PLUS all include two pieces up to 30 kg each. Each piece still faces its own size limit of 158 cm (62 in) in combined length, width, and height.
Go past that size and you are into bulky item territory, with a different fee. Infants traveling on their own ticket get one bag up to 10 kg (22 lbs) plus a stroller.
The US route bonus most travelers never notice
Here is where the Fiji Airways baggage allowance gets quietly generous. On flights to or from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, or Vancouver, PLUS and BIZ PLUS fares jump to three checked pieces at 30 kg each.
Every other route caps those same fares at two bags.
If your trip starts or ends in one of those four cities, this bonus is worth building your fare choice around. It matters most for family trips home to Fiji, when reef gear and gifts eat into your allowance fast.
What travelers actually run into at check-in
Traveler reports on FlyerTalk and airline forums describe the 7 kg carry-on scale as one of the stricter checks among Pacific carriers. Several accounts mention agents at Nadi and Los Angeles pulling bags aside to weigh them, even when the bag looked like a normal size. Travelers consistently report that a bag near 9 or 10 kg gets caught more often than one that just looks heavy.
The recurring confusion travelers describe is the checked bag piece count changing with fare code, not cabin. Economy passengers booked on a LITE fare are often surprised at check-in that no bag is included at all. What it costs when you go over
Extra or overweight bags are accepted only when space allows, and priced by season and route. During peak dates, June to July and November to December, USA departures outside LAX, SFO, and HNL run USD 400 per extra piece up to 30 kg.
Oversize bags, meaning any single piece between 158 cm and 292 cm, cost USD 200 from the USA or Honolulu to any Fiji Airways destination.
From Canada, that same oversize fee runs CAD 260. Nothing heavier than 30 kg gets checked as ordinary baggage at all. It has to be repacked into a second piece or shipped as freight instead.
Fare tiers and frequent flyer extras
Economy runs LITE, VALUE, COMFORT, and PLUS. Business runs BIZ VALUE and BIZ PLUS. The fare code, not the cabin alone, decides your checked bag count.
Oneworld status can add a free bag on top. Emerald members get one additional piece on any ticket. Sapphire members get one extra piece only when their fare already includes zero or one checked bag.
That Sapphire bonus caps at 15 kg on Fiji domestic legs and 30 kg internationally. Compare that against a carrier with simpler tiers, like Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines. The Fiji Airways baggage allowance asks you to read your fare code closely, not just your cabin.
Sports gear and bulky items
Surfboards, golf bags, and skis under 2 m and 30 kg travel as a standard checked piece. That is rare good news for anyone flying to Fiji with a board bag. Past 292 cm (115 in), an item has to move as freight instead.
