How the fare tiers split cabin, personal item, and checked bags
Smartwings sells five basic fare bundles. The Smartwings baggage policy stacks allowances on top of each one. Economy Lite includes only the 8 kg cabin bag, nothing more.
Economy Plus and Economy Flex add a 3 kg personal item and one 23 kg checked bag. Business Lite and Business go further still. Both include two 8 kg cabin bags and two 32 kg checked bags per passenger.
There is no free checked bag on the base fare. That detail catches travelers used to legacy carriers.
Cabin bag and personal item limits
The cabin bag limit on smartwings.com is 55x45x25 cm. That is about 21.7×17.7×9.8 inches, capped at 8 kg, or 17.6 lb. Two of those three sides run a bit larger than the general carry-on size standard most airlines use.
The personal item is a purse or a laptop bag, per the airline’s own wording. It tops out at 40x30x15 cm and 3 kg. It is not included on Economy Lite at all, so pack it inside your cabin bag on that fare.
Checked bag limits and what counts as oversized
A single checked bag can weigh up to 32 kg, about 70.5 lb. It can measure up to 250 cm combined length, width, and height, roughly 98.4 inches. Smartwings does not publish separate first and second bag caps online in English.

Why a charter ticket can mean a different number
Smartwings runs scheduled routes, charter flights, and business jet trips under one operating certificate. The scheduled Smartwings baggage policy above assumes a normal ticket bought directly from the airline. Package holidays are often a different story.
Travelers booked through a tour operator report a stricter limit: often 5 kg in the cabin and 15 kg checked. Overage on those tickets runs around 6 EUR per kilogram, by forum accounts. That gap is not a mistake, since a tour operator sets its own baggage terms.
Check your actual booking confirmation for the real number. Do that if you bought a holiday package rather than a direct ticket.
Smartwings and Czech Airlines are not interchangeable
Smartwings calls itself the largest Czech airline. It anchors Smartwings Group, which also owns carriers in Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary. Czech Airlines is a separate company, with its own baggage rules and its own booking site.
Czech Airlines names its current controlling group as one formed in April 2024. It does not list Smartwings as that owner on its own site. Do not carry a Smartwings baggage policy figure over to a Czech Airlines ticket just because the names get confused.

What Smartwings does not spell out
Smartwings publishes dimensions and weight limits clearly. It does not post a plain fee table in English for a first checked bag, a second bag, or an overweight bag. Those charges surface at booking or check-in instead.
Budget for a fee if you check a bag on Economy Lite. The same goes for a second bag on any fare. Run the actual checkout price through the baggage cost tool before you book.
How Smartwings compares to its low-cost neighbors
Smartwings competes on many Central European routes with Wizz Air and Ryanair. Both of those rivals charge extra for anything beyond a small cabin bag. Smartwings’ 8 kg cabin allowance and included checked bag on Economy Plus sit closer to a traditional carrier.
