Carry-on and personal item, measured in centimeters first
Air Europa lists its cabin bag limit in centimeters: 55 x 35 x 25 cm. That includes handles, pockets, and wheels. In inches, it runs about 21.7 x 13.8 x 9.8, close to the US norm but not identical.
Run your bag through the size checker before you fly. A bag that clears US carriers by a hair can still fail this one. Economy gets one cabin bag up to 10 kg, about 22 lb, plus a personal item.
That personal item is capped at 40 x 30 x 15 cm. In inches, that is roughly 15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9. It has to fit under the seat ahead of you.
What your fare actually includes
Air Europa’s Economy Flex fare spells out its baggage plainly. You get one 10 kg carry-on and one 23 kg checked bag. No guessing involved.
The airline’s site is vaguer on cheaper Economy fares. It only says some tickets include a checked bag and some do not. If your booking does not say, assume nothing is included.
Air Europa baggage rules are clear for Economy Flex but thin everywhere else. Business fares get ‘more baggage,’ in the airline’s own words, with no number attached. Check your fare rules at booking, not the general baggage page.
A rule most travelers never see coming
Household appliances cannot fly as checked baggage on Air Europa. They are cabin baggage only, an odd rule most carriers never bother stating. If you are bringing one home, plan to carry it on.
What travelers actually report at the gate
Enforcement of the cabin bag limit is inconsistent, based on traveler accounts in Air Europa’s own community forums. Many describe boarding with no size or weight check at all. Others report being stopped at the gate with an oversized bag and paying on the spot before it went into the hold.
The dimensional box seems to be what gets checked, not the 10 kg cabin weight cap. A bag with a soft shell that compresses tends to fare better at the gate sizer than a rigid one that will not squeeze in. Travelers also describe confusion over what different Economy fares include, since the airline’s own wording leaves cheaper tickets vague about a checked bag.
The safest approach is to measure before you leave home and keep a card ready in case an agent flags your bag. A rule enforced sometimes is still worth following every time.
